Our mission is to safeguard the rich heritage of Baca County through the collection, documentation, and preservation of historical records, photographs, oral histories, and artifacts.

By honoring the past, we aim to inspire present and future generations to understand and appreciate the people, events, and traditions that shaped our county. Moving forward, we will:

  • Complete the reprint of the 1983 history book and publish Volume II, expanding the record with updated family histories, overlooked stories, and newly discovered accounts. Submit your stories here:

    • Preserve historic materials through digitization, archival care, and public access initiatives.
    • Encourage community participation in collecting and sharing personal histories, photographs, and documents.
    • Partner with local institutions—including schools, libraries, and museums—to integrate Baca County history into education and community life.
    • Create public programs and exhibits that make history accessible, engaging, and relevant to all generations.
