Head-On Semi Collision on Hwy 287


Springfield, CO – At 7:27 AM, emergency crews braved -4°F temperatures to respond to a head-on collision between two semi-trucks on Highway 287 at Mile Marker 43, north of Springfield.

Amazingly, both drivers escaped with only minor injuries.

Emergency units remain on the scene as tow crews work to clear the wreckage. Traffic is currently reduced to one lane, with CDOT alternating northbound and southbound vehicles.

A special thanks to local Fire, EMS, Colorado State Patrol, CDOT, the Undersheriff, and Sheriff for their swift response, as well as the Springfield Police Department and Prowers County authorities for closing the highway to ensure safety.

Drivers are urged to use caution and drive safely.
