Cobblestone Inn Comes to Springfield
This past week a brisk Baca county wind and heavy traffic on Highway 287 greeted a contingent of local investors, city and county officials, and Cobblestone representatives breaking ground for a new Cobblestone Inn south of Springfield.
Cobblestone’s Tim Shefchik noted the heavy traffic by stating “that is the sound of occupancy.”
Bill Brooks and Stuart Eskew provided comments on behalf of the local investor’s group regarding the history of the project and the persistence required to bring the project to fruition.
Baca County Economic Development Commission’s Cheryl Sanchez provided the following for the Herald, “The Cobblestone Project is a great boost to Springfield and Baca County’s economy. Capturing lodging revenue leaving the community. The contribution by so many in the community to this project shows the confidence and desire of “Baca Countians” to do good things for the community. As a Baca County native, I am thrilled to be a part of this project and looking forward to other economic projects in the county.
The hotel will be a big boost to the economy of Springfield and Baca County. Giving travelers and business people a place to rest and have meetings, capturing the revenue leaving the community to stay in other locations. Give the community a destination for out-of-town guests and gives future businesses the feeling of confidence in our community as it sees the economic growth.
The hotel brings jobs, revenue, taxes, tourism, trade to other retail outlets and contributes to the local economy by turning over the dollars in Baca County.
The Cobblestone Inn & Suites will consist of two floors and forty-five guest rooms. It will be located on the site of the old drive-in theatre in Springfield. Additionally, the hotel will feature the brand’s consistent amenities such as an onsite convenience store, complimentary high-speed internet access, on-site guest laundry, Seattle’s Best Coffee, a fitness center, and a complimentary breakfast served daily.
Here are our best wishes for this venture and the community.
