Wesley Wayne Winters Obituary

On Christmas Day, 2021, Wesley Wayne Winters, passed away at the age of 69.

Wesley was born March 11, 1952 in LaJunta, Colorado. He was raised on the farm and ranch west of Pritchett, Colorado, by his parents, Doyle and Viola Winters. The family moved to Apple Valley, California when Wesley was a young boy and he started elementary school there. After returning to Baca County, Wesley attended Pritchett Schools where he graduated from high school in 1970. He then studied at Otero Community College in LaJunta, Colorado.

His life journey took him to many different places and Wes was somewhat a jack of all trades … working as a ranch hand, in the oil fields, railroad welding, and truck driving…there wasn’t much Wes hadn’t done! He especially enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Wesley was an artist at heart and had loads of natural talent; he could draw, did beautiful leather work, braiding and rope creations. In Wes’s travels he made many friends and he never forgot a name or an experience shared.

Wes was preceded in death by his treasured older sister, Rhonda, paternal grandparents, Frank and Ophelia Winters, maternal grandparents, Theodore and Daisy Fulbright. He is survived by four daughters, Rawla, Shae, Tory, Kodi and their families, parents Doyle and Viola Winters, siblings Tina (Jay) Pothour, Brad (Danette) Winters and Sharla Winters, as well as many extended family.

A family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Wesley’s name to the American Cancer Society.
