Walter Dean Wait 

May 19, 1958 – January 16, 2022 

Walter “Walt” Dean Wait was born to JoAnne and Wesley Wait at home on May 19, 1958. He departed this life on January 16, 2022, in La Junta, Colorado after an extended illness. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Guthrie-Wait; son, Brian Wait and wife Billie; son, Eric Wait and wife Emmaleah; brother, Roger Wait; sisters, Mary Wait-Ayers, Carol Schwede, Ruth Russell, Viola Wait, Wanda Wait and Susan Bernal; grandchildren, Chloe Wait, Robby Wait, Madison Wait, Hunter Hartley, Jill Hartley and Levi Hartley; as well as seven step-children, 20 step-grandchildren and fifteen step-great-grandchildren from his marriage to Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Johnny Wait, and son, Robby Wait. 

Walter was a jack of all trades and worked a variety of careers to support his family. There was nothing he could not fix or do if he had the notion to. His passions were fishing, hunting, classic cars, and ranching. Above all his life revolved around his family and his greatest treasures, his grandkids. 

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Campo Cemetery with Evangelist Danny Aragon of the Kim Church of Christ officiating.
