November 6, 1937 – February 24, 2022

Charlotte Marie (McGinnis) Martin was born November 6, 1937, in Vilas, Colorado to Orville and Fern Capansky. She was the oldest of nine children. She departed this life on February 24, 2022, at age 84. She passed at Southeast Colorado Hospital surrounded by her family. 

Charlotte was born and raised in Vilas and graduated from Vilas High School in 1955. Charlotte married James McGinnis on June 4, 1955. To this union, four children were born; Victor, Craig, Brenda, and Nolan. After the passing of James McGinnis, Charlotte married James Martin on January 12, 1988. 

Charlotte is remembered by many from her previous positions in the community as a CNA and food service worker at SECH and baker at Daylight Donuts.  

Anyone who knew Charlotte knew that her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the highlights of her life. Charlotte was an amazing mother and grandmother. 

Charlotte is survived by: her sons Vic (Merna) McGinnis of Springfield, Craig (Connie) McGinnis of Springfield, and Nolan (Carolyn) McGinnis of Stratford, Texas; grandchildren Saundra Summers, Jared McGinnis, Sharleen Wertz, Cody McGinnis, Lynisa McGinnis, and Kambrie McGinnis. Surviving siblings includes sisters Lora Ager and Alice Martin, brothers Stanley Capansky, Merlin Capansky, and Johnny Capansky.  Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Charlotte was proceeded in death by her husband James McGinnis, daughter Brenda McGinnis, husband James Martin, sisters Mary, Nancy, and brother Norvile. 

Charlotte will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
