Investigation is On-Going
On 12-06-21 at approx. 0157 Hours, the Baca County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a local hospital informing them that there was an approx. 40 year old female in the Emergency Room with a gunshot to the head. Officers from the Springfield Police Department and Deputies from the Baca County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Hospital. The victim was stabilised and then transported via medical helicopter to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood for treatment. The victim later succumbed to her injuries.
Deputies were able to locate the victim’s vehicle in an unincorporated area of rural Baca County, and an investigation into the incident was initiated.
Members of the Baca County Sheriff’s Office, Baca County Coroner’s Office, Prowers County Sheriff’s, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office have been working tirelessly on this case since the early morning of 12-06-21. The Baca County Sheriff’s Office has invested countless hours of manpower on this investigation alone, locating and collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, drafting and executing search warrants, and identifying potential witnesses, all in consultation with the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation is active and on-going and the Baca County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work tirelessly until all of the facts are known.
